'The Urban Bee'

The concept for this was based on the word 'perception'. I wanted to think about perceptions that people may have within a city. Mental health became a point of focus, considering how someone with social anxiety may feel walking through a city.

I pasted together a variety of tower building stencil prints to depict a bustling city landscape. Within this I formed The Urban Bee cafe, a place to find relaxation and calm amongst the busy environment.

I made pompom bees which float in the air amidst the tower buildings. The incorporation of bees was to highlight the importance they hold in our ecosystem and the need to create more bee-friendly environments.

Included in the cafe scene are illustrations, geometric block paintings, homemade flapjack with recipe card, herbal tea, a mindfulness book, and envelopes of bee-friendly flower seeds to be taken and sewn.
