About Me

Scan%205_edited.png

Growing up in the countryside has embedded within me a true love for the natural world. I recognise that our connection to nature is very important. Now, having moved to live in a city, my observations draw me instead towards the vibrancy and buzzing atmosphere. With an appreciation for both types of environment, I am keen to explore how they can be combined in balance, an endeavour needed now more than ever, with the consideration of both human and ecological health.

Whole food cooking, yoga and exercise compliment my artistic practice, contributing towards a holistic approach to wellbeing. My experience has taught me that considering health and wellbeing from different perspectives is integral to creating a sustainable way of being. I aim to carry this principle forward into my practice feeding into the health of the whole, both people and their environment.

My name is Jess, but you can call me Jingles.

As an artist, I predominantly draw free-hand illustrations using definitive mark makers such as fine liners and marker pens. Within these drawings, I explore geometric and repetitive pattern. These patterns are inspired by a variety of influences, such as indigenous cultures, nature and architecture. The act of drawing patterns induces a meditative state for me, taking me on a journey through thoughts and with a consciousness of breath, highlighting to me the interconnectedness of mind and body.
